अगर आपने 10वीं पास की है और सरकारी नौकरी की तलाश में हैं, लेकिन बड़ी competitive exams की तैयारी अभी शुरू नहीं की है, तो Department of Posts की Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Schedule-II, July 2026 recruitment आपके लिए देखने लायक opportunity है।

Official portal पर साफ लिखा है कि इस Schedule-II recruitment के लिए fresh registration जरूरी है; पुराने schedules का registration number इस recruitment में valid नहीं होगा।

GDS क्या होता है?
GDS का मतलब Gramin Dak Sevak है। यह Department of Posts के तहत विभिन्न postal offices में काम करने वाला पद है।
इस recruitment में मुख्य रूप से तीन प्रकार के roles हैं:
1. Branch Postmaster — BPM
BPM किसी Branch Post Office के day-to-day postal operations की जिम्मेदारी संभाल सकता है।

2. Assistant Branch Postmaster — ABPM
ABPM, BPM को postal operations में सहायता करता है।

3. Dak Sevak
Dak Sevak का काम Post Office, Sorting Office, Mail Office, Delivery Centre आदि के अनुसार अलग हो सकता है।
इसमें mail handling, parcel-related work, delivery, postal transactions और Post Office के smooth functioning में assistance जैसी responsibilities हो सकती हैं।
इसलिए केवल salary देखकर post चुनना सही approach नहीं है। आपको job profile, location, residence requirement और available post preference भी ध्यान से देखनी चाहिए।
10वीं पास के लिए eligibility क्या है?

यह relaxation notification में prescribed conditions और valid certificates के अधीन है।

क्या computer knowledge जरूरी है?
हां।
GDS notification में knowledge of computers को other qualification के रूप में रखा गया है।
इसके अलावा:
- cycling knowledge
- adequate means of livelihood

इसलिए किसी advertisement में केवल “₹29,380 salary” देखकर यह मान लेना सही नहीं होगा कि हर selected candidate को शुरुआत से ₹29,380 monthly मिलेगा।
ऊपर दी गई राशि TRCA slab है, guaranteed starting take-home salary नहीं।
GDS regular government employee है?
यह सबसे ज्यादा misunderstood points में से एक है।
नहीं, GDS को regular Central Government employee के समान नहीं माना जाना चाहिए।

- regular Central Government employees के समान emoluments नहीं लेते;
- GDS Rules के तहत governed होते हैं;
- Civil Posts outside the civil services of the State के रूप में वर्णित हैं;

Notification यह भी कहता है कि GDS को अपनी livelihood के लिए Government से मिलने वाले allowances के अलावा एक अन्य source of income रखना चाहिए।
यह point बहुत important है।
अगर आपका लक्ष्य सिर्फ “Central Government की permanent regular नौकरी” है, तो GDS को उसी नजरिए से compare करना उचित नहीं होगा।
लेकिन अगर आप 10वीं के बाद postal sector में engagement, local/rural work और relatively different working structure वाली opportunity देख रहे हैं, तो यह recruitment जरूर examine की जा सकती है।
Selection exam से होगा या merit से?
